Adapter Plate to Fit 57 Carb On 56 Intake - 1 Per car |
 |
This kit adapts the '57 style carb to the '56 intake. The original ’56 air cleaner will not fit the new ’57 style carburetor. So you will need 9600-57 air cleaner. Another part you will need is a distributor. Either a 1957 distributor, or one of our replacement distributors, 12127M (which has a mechanical tach drive) or 12127A (no tach drive). The problem is that the vacuum advance signal from the 1957 style carburetor is too much for the 1955 distributor and the car will be advanced all of the time. Also you will need part number 9520 which is the special fuel line for the replacement ’57 style carburetor. The list # of the new Holley is 1848 @ 465 CFM. Suggestion, the 12127M distributor is expensive. If your original tachometer does not work, you might want to look at TVA12. This is an electronic tachometer, and a bonus vacuum gauge. If you use this setup, you can buy the less expensive distributor that does not have a tach drive.

Old design, but workable |
4/29/2020 |
This kit is a great idea and the workmanship of the parts is good. Unfortunately, it seems that the basic design of this kit was done in 2013 and you face problems when trying to use an up to date Holley 4160 1848-2 carb. We solved the problems by removing the vacuum connection in the adapter plate and plugging it. The carb has all required vacuum connections onboard. The parts for the for the heat-controlled choke are not needed since the current carb has an electric choke. Because of this you only need the adapter, bolts and studs.... hopefully, you get the nuts when you order the kit...we didn’t. It would be nice when CASCO would provide a means to secure the throttle linkage to the carb. Adjust the length of the throttle link to make sure you can adjust idle speed. |
